Can Adults Learn Foreign Languages? Here’s How To Start!
We’ve all heard it before children pick up languages quicker than adults. Some of it has to do with children’s tongues not being fully formed before age 10. Some of the other reasons are they aren’t embarrassed to make mistakes like adults are.
And finally, children are more likely to stick with a language if it is used in their everyday lives. So what can adults do to improve their foreign language skills?
1. Take Classes: There are plenty of language classes available for adults, both online and in person. These classes will give you the opportunity to practice your new language with others and receive feedback on your pronunciation and grammar.
2. Use a Foreign Language App: If you’re looking for a more hands-on approach, consider using a foreign language app like Busuu, Duolingo or Memrise. These apps will allow you to learn vocabulary and phrases while playing mini games that help you remember the words.
3. Get Fluent Fast: If you want to become fluent in your new language as quickly as possible, invest in a course that focuses on accelerated learning methods. These courses will help you to learn new vocabulary and grammar faster than traditional language classes.
4. Use a Foreign Language in Your Everyday Life: The most effective way to learn a new language is to use it every day. If you can find ways to incorporate your new language into your everyday life, you will be more likely to remember it and use it correctly.
There are many ways to improve your foreign language skills, and the most important thing is to start. If you’re ready to take your language skills to the next level, I would be happy to help. I have over 18 years of experience with teaching both kids and adults who are Japanese. I can help with proper pronunciation. Something that you often can’t get from a non-native American English speaker.
For a limited time I am willing to give you one word that you may have had trouble pronouncing (of course no profanity or foreign words, only English words). Just drop me a good email address that I can reach you at and I will record the word in American English for free.
